Scratches are available daily, except Mondays, after 12:00 noon for the next day’s races. Scratches for Wednesday’s races are available after 12:00 noon on the preceding Monday. The Diamond Club card can be used at the Del Mar Racetrack,and Surfside Race Place. Each venue offers different benefits and rewards.
For example, members receive admission discounts of 50 percent each time they attend either the live summer meet or Surfside's off-track wagering facility. In addition, Diamond Club members are eligible to participate in exclusive contests and promotions.
Membership is free, but a photo ID is required to obtain a card. Sign up at the Surfside Gift Shop on your next visit. It only takes a few minutes and you will be on your way to member benefits and rewards.

Del Mar Racetrack Mural
The Famous Del Mar Racetrack Mural
Artist Pierre “Peb” Bellocq painted a 30-foot-long mural depicting 70 years of thoroughbred horse racing at Del Mar.
Notice though he forgot the Ocean.??
The painting features co-founders Bing Crosby and Pat O’Brien. They are joined by Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour, and the horse owners Harry James and Betty Grable, comedic husband-and-wife from I Love Lucy Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, and actors Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck.
Jimmy Durante is of course in there Cha Cha Cha Cha...., W. C. Fields and Red Skelton, George Raft and the jockeys Johnny Longden, Laffit Pincay, Jr., Bill Shoemaker, Chris McCarron, Eddie Delahoussaye, George Woolf, Jerry Lambert ,and Ralph Neves. Mike Smith, Alex Solis, and Kent Desormeaux.
Horse Trainers include Farrell and Gary Jones, Tom Smith of Seabiscuit fame, Buster Millerick, Ed Gregson, Bob Baffert, Ron McAnally, Charlie Whittingham, Robert Frankel, Jack Van Berg, Neil Drysdale, and Richard Mandella.
Major Racetrack well knowns were included such as C.S. Howard, E.B. Johnston, Clement Hirsch, John and Betty Mabee, Rex Ellsworth, Robert and Beverly Lewis, Sid and Jenny Craig, and Allen Paulson.
Del Mar’s current President, Joe Harper, sits front and center just above his mom, Cecilia DeMille Harper
The mural, which is on the east wall of the entrance to the track’s Clubhouse/Turf Club gets your attention.
